Born Duranee “Barthez” Da Silva, on the 15th September, 1980 and hails from the Leeward town of Barrouallie…. Barthez’s first love is music. He is one third of the big sound system “Duble Klik Soundz”, along with his younger brother, DJ Slick and DJ Not Nice. He describes his DJ style as laid back and says he tries to let the music speak for itself. He also believes that as a DJ he has a responsibility, as much as possible, to educate people through music and “make people learn something from the music I play and whatever I say on the microphone.”

Barthez says he loves playing for a mixed audience as he believes that one of the true arts of being a DJ is being able to adjust to suit the crowd you are playing for and says “the more difficult a crowd may seem to please, the more enthusiastic I become about the challenge.”

Barthez’s influences come directly from his father, who was the keyboardist in the big band “Resurrection”. He was exposed to the party scene at an early age often travelling with his father from gig to gig. He fondly remembers often falling asleep behind the speaker boxes while his father jammed. He also says he has been influenced, and tends to gravitate to artist who are lyrically sharp like Bunji Garlin, Tupac Shakur, Eminem, Vybz Kartel, Bob Marley and Busy Signal.

Outside of music Barthez is a known “limer” and likes to hang and have a good time with friends and partners, and lives on social media.
