Amazon is planning to step out of the World Wide Web and into the physical world by setting up shop in New York City.

A report from Wall Street Journal has claimed that Amazon will be opening it’s very first physical store in midtown Manhattan near the Empire State Building before the end of the year. The store will serve as an extension of the online business, a distribution outlet and a mini warehouse. Amazon is also considering utilizing the store to showcase inventory such as the Kindle, Fire Smartphone, and Fire TV. Plans are still under development.

Amazon is the largest online retailer and has been giving traditional retailers a run for their money, so, if this new venture is a success, we could see more physical Amazon stores popping up and adding another layer of competition to the retail market.
