Today is the 40th birthday of Trinidadian’s reigning Soca Monarch & Road March king, Machel Montano!

Machel has just recently won a Soul Train Award for Best International Performance. The newly created “Indies Live Music Awards” in the Caribbean have also nominated Machel for Best International Ambassador, Best Male Artiste, Best Live Performance, Best Song of the Year: EPIC. Machel has also been added to the first round ballot, towards possible nomination, of the 2015 Grammy Awards with “Can’t Let Go” ft. Boyz II Men for Best R&B Performance, and Ministry Of Road for Best Music Video.

The Soca superstar, who now calls himself Monk Monte, is currently in Egypt is seen in photographs on Instagram popping champagn and celebrating his birthday infront of pyramids. On one of his Instagram birthday photo’s, Monk Monte posts a message expressing thanks and gratitude for life.

“I woke up like this …and would have it no other way as I celebrate 40 yrs of existence . A mere fraction of time itself yet the fullest of joy . I am happy , I am grateful and I am blessed . Thank you to all the universe for my gift…. my present , past and future as I know my destiny is built on a solid foundation of love and care and I am carried into the future like the sands by the wind !
