Singer-songwriter Jill Scott is under fire for repeatedly tweeting her support of Bill Cosby amid a wave of sexual assault allegations against the comedian.

The messages started Nov. 24 on social media, after a Twitter follower asked Scott to sign and share a petition calling on Temple University to sever its relationship with Cosby. (Cosby resigned from the school’s board of trustees a week later.)

Scott and Cosby are both Philadelphia natives, and both hold degrees from Temple. Scott received an honorary doctorate in May, which Cosby awarded to her, according to the university.

After receiving the Temple petition on Twitter, Scott shot back.
