Ralph Lauren has made a ground breaking entrance into the world of smart clothing with a Polo Tech shirt. The shirt was unveiled at the US Tennis Open and cleverly combines the best of design, fabric and techno-gadgetry.

The high-tech, body-molding shirt made for athletes is equipped with gyroscopes and accelerometers to measure heart rate, intensity of movement and more. Biometric sensors are woven directly into the fabric of the shirt, which will be available in 2015.

The technology was designed by Canadian firm OMSignal. The shirt can be hooked up to a smartphone, which provides a unique means of collecting valuable information on training and performance progress.

Marcos Giron, 452nd international ATP player and one of the best junior players, wore the shirt during training at the last US Open.
