The Montano family unveiled an archive of artifacts collected over the span of Machel Montano’s 33 year career, in an exhibition at Boissiere House in Port of Spain on Monday.

The exhibition features items such as the outfits Machel wore for performances in competitions and for his album covers as well as are trophies, awards, citations, certificates, vinyl records, cassettes, photographs and more.

There was even a room with Montano’s old home studio equipment set-up, which had some onlookers in awe.

Montano said he was moved by the exhibition, which reminded him of all the great times, joys, pains, achievements, failures and jokes of his career and the lives of himself, his family and the people who have been close to him through the years.

The exhibition is being curated by Dr Kwyn Johnson who, also with the Montanos, compiled an informative catalogue on the exhibit that is available to visitors.

The “OnStage” Exhibition runs until Saturday, then closes for the rest of the Christmas season to reopen after the New Year and run through Carnival 2015.
