Bacchanal Jamaica 2015 has announced that Miss Jamaica Universe 2014 Kaci Fennell will lead the 2015 road march on Sunday, April 5 as Queen of the Band.

The announcement was made at The Knutsford Court Hotel in St Andrew, on Thursday night.

“The title is the first time for Bacchanal. This is to show Kaci how proud we are of what she’s accomplished, not just as Miss Jamaica Universe, but as part of the Bacchanal Jamaica family,” Michael Ammar Jr, Bacchanal Jamaica director, told the Jamaica Observer.

As Queen of Band, Fennell will also sport a specially designed costume at the front of the road march. The honorary title is just one of many new changes to spruce up this year’s Carnival season.

In recognition of the younger demographic, Bacchanal Jamaica has partnered with King Alarm to utilise their KingTracker technology that will allow users with Internet access to track the road parade in real time.

Another first combines the party spirit with the competitive spirit as the road march will now feature four allied bands, LehwegoSleek, Unleashed, Euphoric and Peeny Wallie Mas. Their competitive sides will be pushed to the edge as judging of the bands returns.

“People have been asking for it,” said Ammar Jr.

In order not to break the revelling, each band will assemble at a specific point to have their creativity judged under several categories. Bacchanal Jamaica has also joined forces with the Jamaica Environmental Trust (JET) for a branded ‘Nuh Dutty Up’ Jamaica campaign.

Until the road march, carnival fans can enjoy Bacchanal Fridays which kicks off on February 20, at Mas Camp, St Andrew.
