There are not many self-contained reggae bands touring these days. The Gladiators still carry the veterans banner, and though they have not been around as long, Morgan Heritage are tried and proven road warriors.

The siblings recently released their new album, Strictly Roots, on their CTBC Music label. They are scheduled to kick off an American tour today with an appearance at the South By South West Festival in Austin, Texas.

In these days of mass media, not many acts are up to the grind of being on the road, but ‘Heritage’ keyboardist/vocalist Gramps Morgan looks forward to it.

“Touring is always a must so fans can get the full experience of the album they purchase. It helps expand your fan base as there’s always someone new seeing you for the first time,” he said.

On Wednesday, Morgan Heritage are at the Howard Theatre in Washington DC. The band moves to HighLine Ballroom in New York the following day.

The Morgans are also down for dates in Colorado, Arizona, California (seven), Nevada and Florida where the Strictly Roots Tour ends May 24 at Bayfront Park in Miami.
