Minimal design. Premium materials. Made in Italy. Attribute those three characteristics to a pair of sneakers and you’d probably expect to pay a grip.

Looking to provide affordable luxury, footwear startup Rist plans hopes to change the game up with its debut collection. It’s initial offering is a low-top silhouette handcrafted from 100% genuine calfskin leather, cowskin inner lining, and slated to release in three foundation colorways of black, navy, and white. Rist branding appears on a leather patch placed on the tongue while the silhouette’s signature detail is the gold leather cutout on the back heel.

Regarding the affordability aspect, how does Rist intend to provide the luxury it promises without breaking consumers wallets? By cutting out the middle man. While most luxury branded sneakers carry price tags of $400 and up, Rist intends to release their debut model at $265. But during the brand’s Kickstarter campaign – which officially begins on Tuesday, June 2 – customers will be allowed to purchase a limited amount of pairs for as low as $170.
