Sanaa Lathan, Michael Ealy and Morris Chestnut have a lot to celebrate. Their new sexy thriller “The Perfect Guy” earned the number one spot at the box office opening weekend, making a smooth $26.7 million.

The film, directed by David M. Rosenthal, just edged out M. Night Shyamalan’s latest “The Visit” According to reports, both films were expected to make about $15 to $17 million.

“The Perfect Guy” stars Lathan, who breaks up with Chestnut after learning he isn’t ready for kids. She then meets Ealy, who for all intents and purposes seems too good to be true.

The film, backed by Sony’s Screen Gems division, is the second thriller that’s had a big opening this weekend. In 2014, Taraji P. Henson and Idris Elba’s “No Good Deed” another thriller, earned $24 million.
