In the wake of the immense success of N.W.A biopic Straight Outta Compton, Ice Cube has gotten the green light to retell another timeless tale: Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol.

The familiar story will be getting the big screen treatment yet again in new project Humbug, a spec script by Todd R. Jones and Earl Richey Jones picked up by Universal this week following a four-studio bidding war, as reported by Deadline. If the script makes it to production, Cube will play the lead role, “a wealthy real estate mogul shown a path to redemption by the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future.” Sound familiar?

Tim Story, who’s worked with the rapper on Barbershop and Ride Along, has signed on to direct the project. Cube is also listed as one of the film’s producers — maybe we’ll be looking at a new Christmas classic by the 2016 holiday season.
