Lamar Odom still has a long way to go as he fights for his life. But for the first time since being hospitalized he’s showing signs of improvement.

TMZ reports that there is reason for optimism after doctors at the Las Vegas hospital where the 35-year old former NBA player is being cared for ran tests Friday, October 16th, that show his heart function is “much better.”

It had been previously reported that 4 major organs, including Odom’s heart, were failing. Doctors say that the improvement is a good sign.

Odom remains in a coma. Physicians are stressing that he needs “calm” around him because non-stimulation promotes healing.

They are limiting the amount of people being allowed in his room. Odom’s estranged wife, Khloe Kardashian, has remained by his bedside.

As we previously reported, Odom found unresponsive Tuesday, October 13, following a weekend of partying at Dennis Hof’s Love Ranch South in Pahrump, Nevada.
