James “Jamesy” Morgan has been added to the list of SVG’s cultural ambassadors. This was announced during the independence speech given by prime minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves at yesterday’s independence celebration in Victoria Park.

In a post on Facebook, James expressed his gratitude for receiving such an honor:

“Good Morning Facebook. Its the rise after the day that we celebrated our 36th birthday of independance and we did so in fine patriotic style. I say a heartfelt thank you to DR RALPH GONSALVES and the government and people of ST VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES for recognizing me and bestowing upon me the title and reponsibility of CULTURAL AMBASSADOR one which i will wear with dignity and pride . I am truly humbled and honoured to say the lease . I will also like to thank all my fans for their undying support over the years. Congratulations to all the others who has been selected as well . Have a blessed day and i wish you all God speed and blessing.”

Four other individuals were also awarded the title of cultural ambassador, these are, Carlton “CP” Hall, Bridgette Blucher, Olsen “Caribbean Pete” Peters and Wallace Christopher. Nine other individuals were also awarded the title of sports ambassador -Lance John – cricket; Ezra Hendrickson – soccer; Marlon James – soccer; Esther Williams Robinson – netball; Peggy Ince-Hull – netball; Shirley Browne-Winsboro – netball; Stella Boyea-Ashby – netball; Gailene Windsor – netball; Adonyl Foyle – basketball.
