According to the Chicago Tribune,

a 29-year-old woman accusing Rose of rape is looking for at least $21.5 million in damages due to actions she claims the NBA star and his friends were a part of.

The case has shifted to U.S. District Court in Los Angeles after the initial lawsuit was filed Aug. 26 in Los Angeles County Superior Court. Rose’s attorney, Mark Baute, argues that state court does not have jurisdiction because Rose lived in Illinois at the time of the alleged assault.

In documents filed in federal court this week, attempts to build a case that Rose is a resident of Beverly Hills, Calif., and requests the case be moved back to state court. Included in the documents were reported text messages between Rose and the woman near the time of the alleged assault in which Rose refers to his address in Beverly Hills as “home.” Rose, Anand argues, essentially lives in the Los Angeles area when he is not needed in Chicago for basketball practices and games.

A court date is set for Dec 7.
