Over 3 months ago Beenie Man signalled his intention to be more aggressive and vocal in the dancehall industry.
The dancehall icon said the industry is currently too dependent on incarcerated deejay Vybz Kartel.
“Who say dem a run the place, nah run the place. And the man who ah run the place, caan really run the place. You have to represent musically and visually,” Beenie Man said.
Vybz Kartel is now serving life imprisonment for the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams and will not be eligible for parole for 35 years. However, despite his incarceration, he dominates the airwaves in Jamaica.
Beenie said the development is not good for the industry.
“You have to respect Addi work ethics, but him alone caan move dancehall forward. The King caan allow the general fi run the army,” Beenie Man added.
In Beenie Man‘s latest interview on New Talk’s program Nightly Fix, about his new LP (Album), staying relevant in Dancehall music, Shared his opinion on “Dancehall is dead because Vybz Kartel is incarcerated” said, “No one man never run Dancehall.”
