Miley Cyrus hasn’t forgotten her Disney Channel roots. She’s just buried them for the time being.

The controversial pop star posted a heartfelt message on Instagram on March 24 to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of Disney Channel’s Hannah Montana, Cyrus’s star-making vehicle. Donning a Hannah Montana-esque blond wig on the set of Woody Allen’s new Amazon series, Cyrus posted a screenshot of her text with former TV brother Jason Earles. “How insane,” she wrote. “10 years later still laying around in a blonde wig.”

Cyrus captioned the screenshot with an emotional message to the Hannah Montana cast and crew, writing, “Sending love to all my cast members on this anniversary… To the world it’s a celebration of 10 years but for us the journey began way before the world had any clue who the fuck any of us are.”

“Even though I feel disconnected to who I was at that time I will always feel eternally grateful for the opportunity and platform I was given,” she added.

It’s nice to see that even Cyrus gets nostalgic for her halcyon days. At just 11 years old Cyrus won the part of teen-turned-pop-star Miley Stewart on the Disney Channel series Hannah Montana. The premise was simple: Miley was an average tween girl who lived a double life as an internationally famous pop star. Hannah Montana catapulted Miley into the spotlight, but the pop star has since opened up about how damaging the experience was for her.

“I was told for so long what a girl is supposed to be from being on that show,” Cyrus candidly told Marie Claire last year. “I was made to look like someone that I wasn’t, which probably caused some body dysmorphia because I had been made pretty every day for so long, and then when I wasn’t on that show, it was like, ’Who the fuck am I?’”

Despite Miley and Hannah Montana’s public falling out, the 23-year-old can still look back on her Disney days fondly. “Even though HM is chopped up into little tiny pieces and buried in my backyard she will always hold a very special place in my heart!” she wrote on Insta. “Celebrate this day with us! Get real drunk and remember #HM4EVR.”
