As if the crazy world of MMA superstar Conor McGregor couldn’t get any crazier, brace yourself for the next episode.

According to the British tabloid The Sun, Floyd Mayweather is planning to come out of retirement to step into the ring for his 50th fight against MMA fighter Conor McGregor. The paper goes on to say that the two “are on the verge of agreeing to the richest fight in boxing history,” supposedly set for this summer in Las Vegas.

Seems like UFC 200 may have some competition.

According to ‘The Sun’, Mayweather will be earning around $144 million while McGregor will take home just
over $10 million.

The Sun, citing an anonymous source, says that the only hurdles left in setting up the mega-bout is that the fighters need to agree on the purse and sign all the paperwork to make the bout official.

“Floyd went mad after Conor said he would crush him and knock him out in 30 seconds. He’s obsessed with making Conor eat his words,” the source added. “[The fight] was agreed [to] in principle on May 2, but Floyd wouldn’t reveal the identity of his opponent until last night, when he told friends he’ll be fighting McGregor.”

“The two parties have been negotiating for a while and agreed to the fight earlier this month but still need to settle the purse and paperwork.”

McGregor and Mayweather are no strangers to one another as the two exchanged words earlier this year. McGregor challenged Mayweather to a fight after Mayweather conducted an interview in which he pointed out the media’s favorable opinion of McGregor’s smack-talk while simultaneously referring to Mayweather as “cocky and arrogant”.

“So biased,” Mayweather said. “All I’m saying is this: I ain’t racist at all, but I’m telling you racism still exists.”

McGregor, never at a loss of words, shot back at Mayweather on his Instagram account:
“Floyd…don’t ever bring race into my success again,” McGregor said. “I am an Irishman. My people have been oppressed our entire existence. And still very much are. I understand the feeling of prejudice. It is a feeling that is deep in my blood.”

Whether the talk is just rumour mill speculation it has definitely got social media lit up!
