After a 2015 full of L’s, it seems as though Meek Mill’s 2016 has had significantly brighter spots.

The Philly MC won “Top Rap Album” for Dreams Worth More Than Money at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards last night (May 22). The album bested the likes of Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp a Butterfly, Dr. Dre’s Compton, Drake and Future’s What a Time to Be Alive and Drake’s If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late.

The winners of the Billboard Music Awards are determined through a data-based calibration system “based on key fan interactions with music, including album and digital songs sales, radio airplay, streaming, touring and social interactions on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Spotify and other popular online destinations for music.”

So, in short, every mention of Meek between the tracking period for the nominated artists- both positive and negative- more than likely catered to his win last night.

Either way, congrats to Meek.
