The Courts St. Vincent and the Grenadines Fashionista Competition has just concluded and local designer – Jamal Jacobs has, once again, walked away the winner!

The competition, now in its third year, is an initiative taken by Courts to promote and support local talent, while at the same time promote and highlight their products. It captured the interest of about twenty five local designers but only twelve made it to the finals. Finalists were then tasked with the job of using the furniture inside Courts to inspire their designs and show off the trendiness of the furniture.

Jamal Jacobs, who placed first with his design, won a prize of $2500.00.

All participants of the competition were given $200 to assist with purchase of materials for their designs and at the conclusion of the event, they also recieved certificates of participation along with gift vouchers, redeemable at fabric store – Fabric Plus.

The level of creativity and skill the participants demonstrated impressed all in attendance, including a judge from Courts St. Lucia, with a performance from the Melisizwe Brothers to top it off, the event was indeed a success.

The Fashionista Competition is quickly becoming an event that both start-up local designers and the general public look forward to, evident in the increase of attendance every year. Judging by the size of this year’s attendance, Courts may soon be taking this show to a new venue, making it a whole new exciting event to look forward to.
