DJ Khaled has topped charts and won awards, and now the Miami hit-maker has received a hometown honor.

Mayor Tomas Pedro Regalado gave Khaled the key to the city yesterday to thank him for his contribution to local music programs. Khaled showed up to Citrus Grove Middle School, where students performed for the We the Best Music Group founder.

Khaled gave to the school in a number of ways, donating his time to meet with students and throwing some cash toward the music department. The Citrus Grove music program is connected to the Miami Music Project, which offers instrumental and performance programs to local youth to benefit the community. (WSVN-TV)

DJ Khaled posted a photo of the event to Instagram, along with the caption:

“City of Miami mayor Tomas P. Regalado presenting me with the key to the city of Miami! Tears of joy!!! Today I talked to young world I donated to the music program @ citrus grove middle school .. Thank u so much for having me and giving me the platform to inspire the young world and for me to give back to my home that I love MIAMI! God is Greatest! Bless up!”
