Peta Odini owened by Odini Sutherland and SoKa, owned by Karen DeFrietas are among a total of twelve Caribbean designers selected to be honored at the Caribbean Style and Culture awards showcase of 2017 with the Karib Nation award of excellence and fashion innovation. Designers from other Caribbean islands such as the British Virgin Islands, Trinidad & Tobago, Guyana and Suriname were also selected.

Odini expressed her excitement to receiving the award in the following Facebook post;

“Super excited to be among the recipents for this year’s Caribbean Style and Culture Awards to be held in Washington DC in June. Thank you to the CARIBBEAN STYLE & CULTURE team for selecting my brand for the Caribbean Style & Culture, Award of Excellence, Fashion Innovation.
Also glad to be making the trip with fellow Vincentian Designer SoKa who will also be collecting this award!”

Karen also expressed her excitement on Instagram;

“Honored. Excited to be a recipient of this years Karib Nation award of excellence , fashion innovation at 2017’s Caribbean style and culture awards to be held in Washington . Thanks to the team for recognizing me and also fellow Vincentian designer @petaodini . Big up me and big up she.”

The showcase is a celebration of Caribbean American Heritage month as well as the achievements of the elite and up and coming Caribbean fashion designers and will be held on the 17th of June in the United States.
