To promote his upcoming beat battle against Timbaland, Swizz Beatz linked up with Kendrick Lamar to have the Compton rapper speak on Swizz’s greatness. In the process of praising Swizz, Kendrick revealed that he hopes to one day work with the producer.

“Being a student of rap, when I first started rhyming, what I used to do is check the fucking credits,” Kendrick said. “This is something that I don’t know, you know, the kids are doing today, but I’m going to explain to you. Checking the credits, this is how I know I wanna work with Swizz Beatz one day. I remember my favorite fucking beats—checking the credits—say Swizz Beatz on them.”

While Kendrick still holds out hope to one day work with Swizz, his six-year-old son Egypt already has a production credit on the track, “untitled 07 l 2014 – 2016,” off K. Dot’s untitled unmastered. project, which dropped last year.
