Jamaican born Clive “DJ Kool Herc” Campbell has been lauded as “The Father of Hip Hop” this week by a few American rappers, including Busta Rhymes, for his contribution to Hip Hop. It was DJ Kool Herc who revolutionized Hip Hop back in 1973 when, at a back to school party, he used two different turntables to manipulate the instrumental breaks in the music he was playing

“Thank you for giving birth to our culture of Hip Hop,” Busta Rhymes posted on Instagram, along with a video of Campbell telling the tale of how hip-hop started.

As the world celebrated the 44th anniversary of Hip-Hop earlier this week.
