According to TMZ Sports, the WWE is currently working hard on getting Hulk Hogan’s ass back in the ring. Both high ranking WWE officials, as well as the Hulkster, have been in touch, and the conversations between the two sides has reportedly been positive.

TMZ adds that, when the WWE made plans to hold an event in Saudi Arabia (which was held last week), a member of the royal family had mentioned Hogan by name, and asked if he could participate. Had you watched that event, you’d know that Hogan was not there. But the inquiry began a dialogue between Hogan and the WWE powers-that-be.

Hogan was previously axed from the company, back in 2015, after audio of him using the n-word surfaced. At the time, the WWE attempted to get out in front of that tape going public by terminating Hogan’s contract, while also scrubbing nearly every mention of him from their website (his characters from the WWE 2K15 and 2K16 video games were also cut).

WWE is now open to bringing him back to the promotion, but TMZ reports they want to ensure it’s done “the right way.” More specifically, TMZ says that those involved want to be sensitive to anyone who may’ve been offended by Hogan’s rant, while also portraying Hulk as a changed man who’s learned from his mistake(s).

ources told TMZ that WWE was paying attention to a speech Hogan gave to the Boys & Girls Club this week, where he tried to educate kids on not using the same language he had used. They were trying to gauge reaction to Hogan’s speech, which was apparently received well.

Asked for a comment by TMZ, WWE mentioned that speech while also making sure the outlet knows that he isn’t currently under contract with their organization.

“WWE applauds the work Hulk Hogan is doing with Boys & Girls Clubs of America to turn what was a negative into a positive by helping young people learn from his mistake,” they said. “While he has taken many steps in the right direction since we parted ways, Hogan is not currently under contract to WWE.”
