Several Soca songs have been banned by Star FM because of what Minister of Transport and Works Julian Francis considers lewd lyrics.

Speaking on the ULP’s own radio station, Francis said that he took the decision to ban songs because he thinks that the double entendre in some of these songs are not appropriate for radio play.

He noted also that other stations should think about stopping some of the songs that are being played. He spoke specifically about “Funky Business” by Fimba.

The backlash from the public has been swift and fierce with the public chastising the Minister with many respondents telling him to “mind his funky business” while others called for the Minister to do his job and fix the roads and stop messing with “the culture”.

The Minister subsequently called into Hot971 and tried to explain that he hasn’t banned the song just that he has removed it from the playlist of Star Radio (ed. what’s the difference) but then added further confusion by admitting he hadn’t listened to it!!!

Do you agree with the Minister?
