Former captain of the West Indies cricket team, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, will be given the Honorary Doctors of Law later this year by the University of the West Indies.

The Guyanese cricket legend, who is now 43 and still playing professional cricket but started playing for the West Indies at age 19, is listed among several other regional personalities, including Trinidadian calypso artist, Winston Bailey, better known at ‘The Mighty Shadow’ and Former Prime Minister of the Bahamas ,Hubert Ingraham who will be honored later this year by the University of the West Indies’ St Augustine campus.

Chanderpaul has scored over 11,000 runs in Test cricket.
