The World Pediatric Project Urological Mission will be conducting 20 urological surgeries on children under the age of 21 at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital this week following a urological clinic which was held on Sunday (October 14) for children who suffer from disorders in their urinary system.

The WPP recently conducted assessments on a total of 60 children, 21 of them from neighboring countries including Barbados, Grenada, St. Lucia, Dominica and St. Kitts and Nevis. They will be performing an estimated 5 surgeries each day for this week. World Pediatric Project bridges the gap to allow access to advanced pediatric specialty care through diagnostic and surgical care outreach to hundreds of Eastern Caribbean children each year while providing ongoing training to indigenous healthcare workers on the front-lines of care for babies and children in the country. Approximately 15 children from St. Vincent and the Grenadines receive services through this program each year.

The effectiveness of WPP program implementation and outcomes is strengthened through partnerships both within the country and with other organizations elsewhere committed to the goal of improving access to pediatric specialist care for the children in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
