John Legend sat down for an interview with Wall Street Journal, and among the topics he was questioned about, was his friend’s stance with Trump.

John Legend expressed publicly that he disagreed with Kanye when he was wearing Trump’s ‘Make America Great Again’ cap but opened that he understands why Kanye is so fond of Trump. In the interview set to be published in WSJ’s November issue for John’s cover shot, John explained, ”I understand what Kanye sees in Trump, and I think it’s a reaction to his personality and his marketing panache and don’t-give-a-f—ness. But my point to him was that when you wear that hat, when you appear to be endorsing him, you’re endorsing his policies as well, all of his rhetoric and not just the parts you like.”

Many people question Kanye’s mental health stability as a result of his recent statements and action, but on that topic, John had no intention of being the one to diagnose his friend, “A lot of people have tried to armchair diagnose [Kanye],” he shared, “but I leave it to him and his doctors to discuss what’s going on in his brain.”
