The legislation that will determine if St Vincent and the Grenadines will be joining the nations that have legalized medicinal marijuana is set to pass by the end of November and the country is already expected to become one of the world’s leading producers.

Minister of Agriculture, Saboto Caesar, shared his belief that the industry had the potential to positively transform rural livelihoods and communities in SVG while changing the lives of patients who suffer from medical conditions that are unresponsive to other treatments. Government officials are ensuring that all regulations are met in time for the passing of the legislation and they are also informing the world’s investors about the benefits of investing in SVG. “The production of cannabis for medicinal purposes provides an excellent opportunity for small island states to further diversify possibilities for farmers to secure sustainable livelihoods,” Saboto stated.
