Lil Wayne has had one hell of a journey throughout his groundbreaking musical career. From smashing records to overcoming legal issues, Weezy has always made it through, but the rapper says he wouldn’t have persevered if it weren’t for his fans and a couple of true friends. During his last stop in Chicago on his I Ain’t Sh*t Without You Tour, Tunechi showed love to his friends Jay-Z and Swizz Beatz, and revealed just how far Hov’s support has extended.

According to Wayne, Jigga helped him with his finances. “There’s people like Jay-Z. He helped me out when I was really, really, really down. Really, really, really down,” he told the crowd. “Jay don’t want me to tell nobody. That man helped me with my taxes. He’s a real friend y’all.”

The “Uproar” artist also commended his frequent collaborator Swizz Beatz for assisting on his latest album Tha Carter V. “There’s people like Swizz Beatz who’s gonna send me every single beat he make and wants me to rap on every single one until I got my situation straight,” he added.

It’s no surprise that Wayne and Jay have each other’s backs. Aside from sharing the same last name, Hov has previously stated that he admires Tunechi’s rap skills and rise to fame. Jay-Z also attempted to sign Wayne to his Roc-A-Fella label years ago.
