Chris Brown recently announced on Instagram that his new deal with RCA Records has allowed him to become the youngest musician to own their masters, however, he may have spoken too soon.

21 Savage, who is 26 years old and younger than Chris Brown, is now coming forward to say that he has owned his masters from day one when he signed his first record deal with Epic Records back in 2016. R&B singer SZA also signed an attractive deal with RCA through TDE which enables her to retain full ownership of her masters.

Older artists like Jay-Z have been urging younger artists to retain ownership of their master recordings and as of late, it seems as though they are taking heed.

Chris Brown is currently working on his new album Indigo, due sometime this year. He released the first single from the project, “Undecided,” on Friday along with an accompanying video.
