Alkaline just reached 1 million subscribers on YouTube and in the event that you’re unaware of what that means, it means that the young Jamaican dancehall artist has broken yet another record in the dancehall industry.

Alkaline is the first Jamaican-based dancehall artist to reach 1 million subscribers on the streaming site with the only other Jamaican entertainer’s VEVO channel to celebrate the milestone being that of international superstar, Sean Paul, with 1.4 million subscribers. Following right behind Alkaline is Vybz Kartel with 940,000 and Spice with 725,000. Vybz, however, still remains the most streamed artist out of Jamaica on YouTube with 2.4 million streams. Changing positions a bit, Alkaline secured the second spot with 25.3 million views.

Alka was followed by Popcaan with 19.4 million, Masicka who racked up 15.2 million, while Dancehall newcomer Rygin King got over 11 million views. Vybz Kartel and Alkaline were the top streamed artistes in Montego Bay with almost 455,000 views each. The ‘Unruly Boss’ Popcaan received 273,000, Rygin King got 246,000 views from his hometown and Masicka was in ‘top form’ with 225,000.
