Thanks to a little rule that allows a song to enter Trinidad and Tobago’s road march competition as long as it is predominantly Trinidadian, Vincentian artist Skinny Fabulous can now retire knowing that he has made history as the first non-Trinidadian artist to win the carnival’s road march title with soca bomb “Famalay” and the only soca artist to capture road march titles in multiple countries.

“Famalay,” which was written by Skinny Fabulous and performed by Skinny Fabulous, Machel Montano and Bunji Garlin exploded on every stage, road and fete it touched during TNT’s carnival. Adding to their fire performance, the trio traveled around the Caribbean touching St. Vincent and the Grenadines then Dominica, home to the producer of the song – Dada Music, to film an inclusive visual for the song; embracing each country’s energy and encouraging fierce national pride and Caribbean unity.

As one of the running soundtracks of Trinidad & Tobago’s carnival this year “Famalay” has managed to power through with strong, consistent vibes to the very end, overpowering all others to secure the 2019 road march title.

CONGRATULATIONS to Famalays everywhere!
