The “Love & Hip Hop New York” star, 38, was arrested and charged with assault after turning herself in Wednesday, the New York Police Department confirmed to USA TODAY. She was released on $1,500 bail.

Remy, whose real name is Reminisce Smith, is accused of punching fellow “Love & Hip Hop New York” co-star Brittney Taylor in the face during a benefit concert last month.

Police say Taylor suffered a bruised right eye as a result.

“This arrest demonstrates how serious this matter is, it is real life and not reality TV entertainment,” Taylor’s lawyer, Sanford Rubenstein, said in a statement to the Associated Press. “The victim Brittney Taylor has confidence in our system of justice and will continue to fully cooperate with the authorities.”

Remy is due back in court on May 24. Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Josh Hanshaft ordered the Grammy-nominated rapper to stay away from Taylor while the case proceeds.
