Last September, Nike doubled down on its choice to make Colin Kaepernick the face of its 30th anniversary “Just Do It” campaign, opting to have the former NFL quarterback narrate its “Dream Crazy” commercial. Conceptualized by ad agency and longtime Swoosh partner Wieden + Kennedy, “Dream Crazy” also highlighted athletes like LeBron James and Serena Williams, and now it’s up for one of the most prestigious awards in television.

The “Dream Crazy” spot has now been nominated for an Emmy in the Outstanding Commercial 2019 category. Along with Nike, Wieden + Kennedy and production company Park Pictures are also up for the award. The competition includes ads from Apple and Netflix, among others.

“Dream Crazy” was unveiled last September and premiered on TV during the first game of the NFL regular season, amplifying its reach and resulting in a near-immediate surge in online sales.

In the months since the commercial’s debut, Kaepernick and Nike have found themselves in the news again after the ex-NFL star reportedly persuaded the brand to cancel its “Betsy Ross Flag” Air Max 1 sneakers for the Fourth of July.

The 2019 Emmys take place Sunday, Sept. 22.
