Beyonce fans are scratching their heads in confusion after the singer’s critically-acclaimed Netflix documentary Homecoming was snubbed at the Creative Arts Emmys 2019.
The Formation singer was nominated in the variety special (pre-recorded) category for the concert film but lost out to James Corden’s hit talk show segment Carpool Karaoke: When Corden Met McCartney Live From Liverpool. Homecoming also received nods in five other categories – outstanding costumes for variety, non-fiction or reality programming, outstanding directing for a variety special, outstanding music direction, outstanding production design for a variety special and outstanding writing for a variety special, but lost out in all. Other shows which beat Homecoming to the win, include RuPaul’s Drag Race and Springsteen On Broadway.
Tired of the seemingly constant awards snubs, one Beyonce fan tweeted: ‘Homecoming didn’t win an Emmy. Lemonade didn’t win an Emmy. ‘Lemonade didn’t win AOTY. Whoever is responsible for this repeated burglary of Beyoncé, needs to be caught, reprimanded and taught what art is [sic].’
