The Ministry of Tourism and Culture in St. Vincent and the Grenadines has officially cancelled Vincy Mas 2020.

Due to the global pandemic caused by the novel coronavirus, the three main faculties of carnival – Mas, Pan and Calypso have come together with the Carnival Development Corporation to recommend that the Ministry of Sports and Culture cancel the upcoming annual festivities.

The recommendation was accepted by the Ministry of Tourism, Sports and Culture, who also plans to include the stakeholders of carnival in their economic review and stimulus package, which will be presented in parliament on April 7th. See official statement below:

In the meantime, Mas bands are releasing official statements, Soca artistes are using their platforms to encourage fans, friends and family to employ preventative methods and a new local extempo challenge has surfaced on social media.
