Joseph Ballantyne, resident of Sandy Bay has finally stepped forward to claim his lottery winnings of one million, six hundred and eighty five thousand dollars.

According to Ballantyne, the winning numbers were given to him by his daughter, Joline Baptise, who said they came to her in a dream. Ballantyne played the numbers twice, hitting the jackpot on his second attempt on May 29th.

Although he is quite unsure of how he’d be spending his winnings, Ballantyne revealed that his first daughter has been diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer and he is willing to use the winnings to assist her in anyway he can.

He collected his cash prize in a presentation ceremony earlier today (June 9), at Victoria Park, along with Relitha Nanton, a resident of Fancy, who also woke a cash prize of $60,000. General manager of the National Lotteries Authority, Mc Gregor Sealey has lauded the day as a historical one saying that it’s the first time the jackpot has exceeded one million in SVG and $1.5 million in the Windward Islands.

The vendors who sold the winning ticket was also awarded 1.5 of the winnings.
